Westerville City School District issued the following announcement.

Westerville City Schools students and family members are invited to a one-of-a-kind event that brings employers, industry leaders, community groups and educators together to build a talent pipeline that starts in the classroom.

Through the Westerville Prepared community event, students and families will be able to engage with employers in a variety of ways. They will learn about in-demand jobs, skills needed to be successful in the workforce and the various opportunities Westerville and Central Ohio have to offer.

Among the event highlights:

  • Breakout sessions with industry experts and employers in the fields of information technology/logistics, health care, engineering, skilled trades and the military.
  • A hands-on CSI activity for students in grades 3-5 in the Otterbein Makerspace.
  • A student showcase featuring elementary partnerships with community organizations and middle and high school pathway programs.
  • A community resource hub with groups such as W.A.R.M, City of Westerville, Franklin County Job and Family Services and the Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio.
Westerville Prepared is 6-8 p.m. April 20 at The Point at Otterbein.

Columbus State Community College President Dr. David Harrison, Otterbein University President Dr. John Comerford and WCSD Superintendent Dr. John Kellogg will serve as the event’s featured speakers. Representatives from nearly two dozen businesses will be on hand throughout the event.
